Privacy Policy

GrowKit is a mobile app for farmers, livestock owners, buyers, and rural sellers in India. It helps people list and discover livestock and other farm-related products, connect with nearby people, and access features such as weather, mandi prices, land measurement, and GrowKit Doctor. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we use it, who we share it with, and how you can ask us to correct or delete it.

Who this app is for

GrowKit is intended for people aged 18 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete the account and associated personal data where required.

Information we collect

• Account information. We may collect your mobile number, name, language preference, and profile photo if you add one. We create an account ID after you verify your mobile number using an OTP. Telugu is the default language, and you can change your language preference at any time.
• Location. We may collect the village or town name, district, state, and GPS coordinates that you save or provide. We use this information to show nearby Mall listings, weather information, mandi prices, and GrowKit Doctor services. If you use Land Measure and walk around a field, GPS may be used while that screen is open. We do not continuously track your location in the background when you are not using location-based features.
• Photos. We may collect photos that you take with the camera or select from your device for your profile, Mall listings, or GrowKit Doctor visit completion. Photos may be resized and compressed on your device before being uploaded.
• Voice input. If you tap the microphone while using GrowKit Doctor to describe an animal problem or while entering information in a Mall “Other” field, your device may use Android or Google speech services to convert your speech into text. We store the text that you submit. We do not keep audio recordings from this speech input.
• GrowKit Doctor. We may collect the type of assistance you request, the animal problem description you submit, visit photos, and, when you request an in-person visit, the location needed by the assigned veterinary professional to reach you.
• Listings and activity. We may collect listing titles, prices, descriptions, photos, interests, offers, call activity, shares, boosts, sold status, reports, blocks, and other activity related to using GrowKit.
• Phone number on deals. If a seller enables calling from a listing, another user may see or dial the seller's phone number when they tap Call. If you mark an item as sold, you may also enter a buyer's phone number for your own records.
• Notifications. We may collect a device push token through Firebase Cloud Messaging so that we can send notifications about inbox messages, listings, offers, and other GrowKit activity. You can refuse or disable notification permission through Android settings.
• App and device information. We may collect information such as app version, language, permission status, and crash information through services such as Firebase Crashlytics to help keep GrowKit working reliably.
• Analytics. We may collect in-app events such as screens opened, listings created, offers sent, or locations saved using analytics services such as Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel. These events may include your account ID, display name, role, village, district, state, or Premium status. We do not send your phone number, OTP, or login token as analytics event data.
• On-device storage. GrowKit may store information such as your login session, language preference, and saved village on your device so the app can remember these settings.

We do not read your contacts or phone book. We do not store the SMS text of OTPs. Your device or operating system may provide OTP codes to the app through supported autofill or verification features.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to create and secure your account, verify your mobile number, provide nearby listings, show weather and mandi prices, provide GrowKit Doctor services, convert speech into text when you use the microphone, send notifications you allow, provide Premium features, support Land Measure, process reports and blocks, prevent abuse, understand how the app is used, fix technical problems, and improve GrowKit.

Permissions

• Location — used after you allow access, for saving your village, showing nearby results, weather, mandi prices, GrowKit Doctor visits, and Land Measure.
• Camera and photos — used when you choose to add a profile photo, listing photo, or GrowKit Doctor visit photo.
• Microphone — used only when you tap the microphone to provide speech input in GrowKit Doctor or a Mall “Other” field. You can type instead.
• Nearby devices / Bluetooth — may be used when you use a connected headset or supported audio device while speaking.
• Notifications — used for optional alerts about inbox activity, listings, offers, and other GrowKit activity.
• Internet — required for the app to communicate with GrowKit servers and third-party services.

What we share

Information that you choose to publish on a listing may be visible to other GrowKit users. This may include listing photos, village or location information, price, profile name, and profile photo.

If you use the Call feature, your phone number may be shared with the person who taps Call. If you request a GrowKit Doctor visit, your location and animal problem information may be shared with the assigned veterinary professional so that they can provide the requested service.

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate GrowKit, including:

• Google Firebase — used for services such as Analytics, Crashlytics, and Cloud Messaging. See Firebase Privacy and Google Privacy Policy.
• Mixpanel — used for product analytics and understanding how GrowKit is used. Information may include events and a profile containing details such as display name, role, and village. See Mixpanel Privacy Policy.
• Google speech services — may process speech when you use microphone-based speech-to-text features. See Google Privacy Policy.
• Hosting services — used to store accounts, listings, photos, and GrowKit Doctor records.
• SMS services — used to deliver login OTPs to your mobile number.
• Maps — used for location and Land Measure features. Map tiles may be provided through OpenStreetMap or other mapping services. Your device may send technical information such as an IP address to the relevant map service.
• Weather and mandi price services — your saved location may be sent to our servers so that we can provide relevant weather and mandi information. We do not need to send your name or phone number for this purpose. Mandi information may be obtained from publicly available government or other data sources.
• Payment services — if you purchase GrowKit Premium, the payment provider may receive the information required to complete the transaction.
• Sharing apps — if you choose to share a listing or information through WhatsApp or another app, the content you choose to share is provided to that app.

We may also disclose information where required by applicable Indian law, a valid legal request, or where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security issues, or protect users and the service.

How long we keep your information

We generally keep account, location, listing, and GrowKit Doctor information while your account remains active or as needed to provide the relevant services.

Push notification tokens may be removed when you log out or unregister a device. Analytics and crash information may be retained according to the retention practices of the relevant service providers.

After account deletion, some limited information may be retained where reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, disputes, accounting, legal obligations, or other requirements under applicable law. Where appropriate, such information will be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required.

Delete your account

You can ask us to delete your GrowKit account and associated personal data.

You can make a deletion request through the available Help or Support section in the app, or contact us using the details provided below. Please include the mobile number used to sign in so that we can identify your account.

When your account is deleted, listings associated with your account will be removed from the active marketplace. We will delete or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period, except information that we are required or permitted to retain for legal, security, fraud prevention, or dispute-related reasons.

Your other choices

• Edit your name, profile photo, language, and village from your Account settings.
• Edit, remove, or mark as sold listings that you have created.
• Block users or report listings that violate the rules or create a safety concern.
• Turn notifications on or off through Android settings.
• Revoke location, camera, microphone, or photo permissions through Android settings. Some GrowKit features may stop working when the relevant permission is disabled.

Where applicable, you may also contact us to request access to or correction of your personal data.

Security

GrowKit uses OTP-based login to help secure your account. Data sent between the app and our servers is protected using HTTPS where supported.

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we handle, but no method of storing or transmitting information over the internet is completely secure. Never share your OTP, password, or account access information with another person.

Where data is processed

You may use GrowKit in India. Some service providers we use, including hosting, Google Firebase, Mixpanel, and speech services, may process information on servers located outside India. We take reasonable steps to ensure that such processing is handled in accordance with applicable requirements.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date shown at the top of this page and may provide additional notice where appropriate.

We encourage you to review this page periodically so that you remain aware of how GrowKit handles personal information.
